Why cant you use that plastic ball barbell for my tongue piercing instead?

All of the jewelry we use to do our body piercing are 316-LVM stainless steel. There are different grades and qualities of steel, only some of which are applicable for body piercing purposes. Stainless steel is a non-porous, non-corrosive metal which bacteria and tissue cannot grown on. Some grades of lower quality steel may contain higher quantities of nickel which can cause skin reactions, so don't be fooled by competitors. We use only the highest quality steel with mill certificates available.

For the person with metal sensitive skin, we offer many alternatives such as Titanium or Niobium jewelry both of which have either low or no nickel content.

Plastic/Bone/Wood jewelry should not be used for a new piercing. These materials are all porous meaning there are very small holes throughout the jewelry. These holes can be a bacteria trap for your piercing and can ultimately cause an infection or improper healing for your new piercing, that's why only stainless steel is recommended.
